Harry Potter Decor and Photoshop

Since last year when I had to paint a wall that had a leak in the ceiling, my apartment has been themed Gryffindor. In order to save my paintings, decorations and furniture from future water leakage above this one wall in my living room, I opted to paint the whole wall as a mural since I won't be taking it with me when I move... this is the wall I painted; the entrance to Gryffindor:

I loved it so much, that I got carried away and made the whole room Gryffindor! I am going to share some of the art I did for my living room in this post and once I sort through my other pictures and such, I will post more Harry Potter projects and decorations :)

Next I decided that I need a fat lady portrait of my own; to guard my living room of course! lol
I always liked the dress and background from the first movie, but the face of the fat lady who replaced her, so in my portrait I combined them!

I had this canvas and frame from goodwill that I bought four years ago with the intention of painting the Dawn Treader on it and hanging it in my bathroom... well, that still has not happened (procrastination!) so to get double use from this canvas, I turned it around and painted the fat lady on the back!
I really love how she turned out! I plan on making some prints of this in the future.

What is Gryffindor without some tapestries?? That is what I thought when I brought home some very large pieces of cardboard to paint my own tapestries modeled after the ones in the movies. They are 6 1/2 ft by 2ft approximately, and I have one more I am still working on, but it is painted on an unstretched piece of canvas instead of cardboard. The gray in the picture is my giant rook I up cycled which I will post about another time.

In case everything else in the room was not obviously Gryffindor, I painted Gryffindor's lion mascot on the back of one of my paintings. I really love gold paint! lol

Already carried away, I tried out a Ginny Weasley costume :) This is my owl, Butterfinger lol

To achieve the Ginny look, I used red pencil makeup for eyeliner and brow liner. I used the same pencil for fake freckles which I went over with a brown pencil. I put the freckles on my face and shoulders. I also used blush on my shoulders and my face. After braiding my hair I brushed some red face paint over it lol, I didn't want to actually dye my hair, although, the face paint got all over everything lol

Of course my costume inspired some photo shop ;)

My husband gave me an owl for my last birthday :) I named him Butterfinger.

Well, that's all for now :)

Bye from Butterfinger!

Dragon Egg Easter!

This Easter, in line with my Gryffindor themed living room, I decided to make my eggs dragon eggs! I really liked how they turned out!

These three are my favorite :) I used food coloring, glue and sparkles to achieve this look.

I do like the green ones too, but not as much as the blue.

I used raw eggs because it was last minute and I didn't have the patience to wait for them to boil lol but I did wash them with soap and water in case of any salmonella. But... I had to be extra careful with them because raw eggs are much more of a mess to clean up, I know because I dropped one lol

I tried dipping the eggs in food coloring and water (I had not bought a dying egg kit with the right dye) but the food coloring was not sticking, so I just squirted it on my fingers and rubbed it right on the egg and that worked. Then I let them dry a little bit and then used Elmer's glue on them and rubbed it all over. Lastly I dumped sparkles on them and patted them all over. I used both large sparkles and the very fine ones like dust.

I was surprised and very happy with how this experiment turned out :)

Mad Tea Party in a Tree

Spring is mostly here, so that means its a great time for tea! My friend Lindsey and I had a tea party last spring and now that it is spring again I have made time to post the pictures! :)

Lindsey lets me test the camera focus on her lol

We are serious about this tea party lol

Peach and Raspberry tea mmmmmmm..
Unfortunately I did not get any pictures of the lemon bars she made;
they were so good we ate them all ;)

Fun tea things..

Here Lindsey have some more!

You can't have too many tea cups at once!

We're absolutely Mad about tea.

And tea is Mad about us! lol ;D

How about a game of cards???

Lindsey checks out my cards; I have one with some tea...

Everyone wins in our game :)

Even the cat! Riley wants tea too.

This pocket watch is two days wrong! I'll just fix that with a little butter...

Now it will taste much better.. what isn't better with butter??

Buttery gears!

It's still wrong!

Must need some tea...

Peach is my favorite.

I'm also wearing some gears in my ears.. helps me think, about tea..

Our tea party moves outside!

Lindsey loves tea from a tree :)

Would you like some tea low?

We do both.

Or in a chair?

Falling tea!

Lindsey does a good job of catching it in her tea cup!

And keeping her hat on at the same time!

We took a lot of pictures; I liked all of them so I'm posting them all.

We are having fun.. even though it was very cold!

Lindsey pours some herself, less splashing that way lol.

I like splashing, it's more fun~!

Tea loving feet lol

Yay tea!

Mad hatter in a tree.

Drinking lots and lots of tea.

Tea cup up!

One dunk of the pocket watch..

Dunk two...

I need more tea!

Tea cups hiding in the bushes.. probably from thirsty walruses.

I keep pouring out of my bottomless tea pot!

Relaxing in my tree with my tea.

I love this pot and it loves me....

This tree must love me too because I did not fall out of it! lol

Fit for the Queen of Hearts

Our tea party continued with pie!

And tea!

We ate it but did not shrink or grow, maybe next time...

That was about all there was to our party in Wonderland.

We enjoyed it!

A lot!

Hope you enjoy it too!
